Masnah’s decentralized punk mural takes on Wynwood, Miami
A new form of decentralized mural commissioning is a revolution in the way we pay artists to make art
In early December, Masnah posted in the cryptopunks group chat that he would be selling “gold brick” NFT editions to punk owners. Purchase of a gold brick is an access pass to have the punk of your choice painted above the Museum of Grafitti in Wynwood, which ended up being only a block away from the Hodler Gallery and the Punks Brunch hosted by @perhapsrabbits !
Masnah received the funds and went on a financial splurge. He planned this massive project months in advance with art studies done on cardboard (which he gifted some of us!). After visiting a massive paint supply warehouse and renting a scissor lift, the first punk to go up on the wall was actually Beeples punk, commissioned by a different punk in honor of him.
This is mural 2.0 and is even higher quality and definition in comparison to the OG brooklyn NFT wall that Masnah painted two years ago.
We are so grateful for Masnah and his contribution to this piece of punk and mural art history 🔥 I cant wait to see what the future holds for decentralized art and how we can continue to support artists in brand new ways like this.
